Born on 16 October 1954 in Suhl, Corinna Harfouch studied at the Staatliche Schauspielschule Berlin and was a master student of Vera Oelschlegel at the Theater im Palast. She celebrated her greatest stage success in the GDR as Lady Macbeth under the direction of Heiner Müller at the Volksbühne Berlin. After reunification, she worked at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, later moving to the Volksbühne and becoming one of the most important protagonists of director Frank Castorf. She was voted Actress of the Year in 1997 for her interpretation of General Harras in "Des Teufels General".
